Year 2020 Fight for Pure water availability in Sonbhadra District (UP)

The Sonbhadra district, which borders four states, is an industrial area. Many minerals such as bauxite, limestone, coal and gold are already present in its soil. There are also many power plants in Sonbhadra and the 10 coal-based power plants in the Singrauli-Sonbhadra region generate 21,000 MW of power supplied to the nearest states. Providing revenue of about Rs 27,198 crore from mining every year to the Uttar Pradesh government, Sonbhadra, however, has an often hidden, dark side. According to its report, about 20 lakh people living in Sonbhadra-Singrauli area, spread over an area of 40 kilometres, are reeling under mercury pollution. This is causing health issues like miscarriages in women, diseases like anaemia and BP. There is no fruit in the orchards, the crop production is declining.
Fluoride (F¯) concentration over and above the permissible limits (1.5 mg/l) in drinking water leads to human health hazards, such as dental and skeletal fluorosis affecting millions of people in many parts of India. Preliminary investigations indicate that severe health disorders have been identified in parts of the Kachnarwa region, which is in the upper Panda river basin, Sonbhadra District, Uttar Pradesh, due to excess intake of fluoride through drinking water. According to citizen of Sonbhadra, so many times government accepts the polluted water condition in district but they did not solve their problems. They then approached Human Rights activist Mr. Bunty Srivastava .
We setup a core team to investigate ground reality and found that It is a very big problem beyond imagination. We rote complain to National Human Right Commission and forwarded to PMO, Centre Minister of Health, Centre Pollution Control Board and CM, UP. Seeing our complain Central Government has taken quick decision and issued the direction to UP government that pure drinking water should be available for villagers and what action and decision that has to be taken for this was informed to Mr Bunty Srivastava in writing. And the result is that a huge project has been launched by PM and CM, UP on 22nd November’2020 for permanent solution against polluted drinking water.

Year 2022 PIL Against Police Department

Before September, 2021, almost 348 people died in police custody, while 1189 were tortured during detention across the country in the last three years. Around 80% of the criminal cases that our human rights organization received across the nation were due to negligence, selfishness and corruption of the police department itself.
To save the people from police atrocities and to protect the human rights as enshrined in Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, on 18th July 2022, we filed a PIL in the Supreme Court and sent a Copy to Law & Justice ministry, regarding the rampant corruption among police officers across India, which has been distressing the public for the past 70 years. Upon our plea, the Law & Justice Ministry took action, and the Supreme Court ordered immediate action on this matter. Our complaint highlights the significant human rights violations by the police in India. Now, laws are being drafted and some new amendments have been made to ensure that the police do not harass the general public and refrain from engaging in corrupt practices or violations.

Year 2023 Preserving Mother Nature

In 2023, we received a call from a senior scientist at the Punjab Environment Department, who advised us to write a letter to the Government of India. Based on the research, the temperature is expected to rise significantly in the next six years, causing serious problems, with temperatures reaching 55-60 degrees Celsius. The urgent situation forced us to take immediate action to prevent further deforestation, aggressively promote afforestation which will allow the temperature to normalize within 5-6 years. We were prompted to act, and when we presented the issue to the Central Pollution Control Board, immediate action was taken. Several state governments also acted upon our findings. The initiative to plant trees across India has gained momentum, with trees being planted in all directions.
